2022 Honda Fit Preview, Specs, Price | Available in the U.S?

The Honda Fit is having difficulty competing in several markets. However, in some countries such as Europe and Asia, the Honda Fit is still very popular and gets good sales. You expect significant changes for the 2022 Honda Fit, as the currently available model will be 2 years old in 2022.

Honda Fit will compete with the Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, Chevy Spark, and the Hyundai Accent. To compete with strong competitors, Honda needs to redesign the 2022 Honda Fit, especially on the front facia. Some people think it is less attractive; it looks like Honda will give a new touch to improve aerodynamics. It would also be interesting if Honda gave a racing touch to the 2022 Honda Fit Type R.

2022 Honda Fit Redesign and Changes

The Newcoming Honda fit also has a lot of color options. Most of them are bright color; it suits this car’s segment, which targets the younger generation. Among others, the colors are:

  • Orange Fury ( LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Platinum White Pearl (  LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Lunar Silver Metallic (  LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Modern Steel Metallic (  LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Crystal Black Pearl ( LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Milano Red ( LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )
  • Aegean Blue Metallic ( LX, Sport, EX, EX-L trims )

Will the New Honda Fit be sold in the US?

Unfortunately, the news seems to come from one of the world’s vehicle manufacturers, Honda, to residents in the U.S. The reason is, they officially announced that they would stop producing and marketing the current Honda Fit in the regional market. U.S residents themselves are quite happy and satisfied with the production of these vehicles, coupled with significant improvisations to this latest model.

Not only the U.S region but reportedly, the Mexico region also felt the policy from Honda. As for market areas in other places such as Europe and Japan, they can still have the opportunity to get this latest model. This model itself is better known as the Honda Jazz, which is the fourth generation.

Not without a reason why Honda took this policy. This is based on the decline in selling power experienced by Honda in recent years. According to existing reports, this decline reaches 19 percent during 2020.

Compared to its brother HR-V, the Honda Fit is still outnumbered by the number of units sold. Also, the price of the Honda HR-V was several thousand dollars more than the Honda Fit. This made Honda decide to discontinue the Honda Fit to reduce its operating costs and focus more on the Honda HR-V because it is more desirable.

Honda Fit’s short trip in the U.S

The Honda Fit was first introduced in the U.S in 2007. During that time, the Honda Fit received an award from the Car and Driver 10Best awards as a vehicle that provides a pleasant experience and atmosphere when driving in nature and the amazing space efficiency.

But unfortunately, all of that will only be a memory because the 2022 Honda Fit will certainly not be released on the U.S. vehicle market.

HR-V Crossover as a replacement

It looks like Honda will decide to focus on the model of their HR-V. By stopping the Honda Fit and focusing on the Honda HR-V, Honda plans to issue a newer model variant. This variant would later become better known as the HR-V Crossover as a result.

The price is not expected to be more expensive than the HR-V model but certainly less expensive than the Honda Fit.

2022 Honda Fit Price & Release Date

I am expecting The New Fit will hit the market in late 2021 as the 2022 model year. The price should remain pretty much similar to the previous model.

  • LX 6MT- $15,525 (est)
  • LX CVT- $16,325 (est)
  • EX 6MT- $17,435 (est)
  • EX CVT- $18,235 (est)
  • EX-L CVT- $19,800 (est)
  • EX-L Navi CVT- $20,800 (est)

Engine Specs

The New Fit is powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTECH engine with a 7-speed CVT transmission. That engine brings power up to 128 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque.

Honda Fit is also available in a hybrid model, which uses a 1.5-liter inline 4 cylinder with 96 kW electric motor producing up to 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.

As usual, hybrid engines have advantages in terms of fuel consumption and engine acceleration. With the combination of a 1.5-liter engine and an electric motor, the Honda Fit can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 9.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 mph.

This hybrid combination also has a fairly decent fuel consumption, namely 33 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 36 mpg combined.

Comparison of Honda Fit with other models

So many people like this model of the Honda Fit vehicle itself because it is sleek, simple, and not too difficult to control. The Honda Fit is also one of the cars included in the low-level category, where everyday use is very suitable.

Also, one-factor influencing people to like it is that the price is quite low compared to other models. But unfortunately, people today are more inclined to choose mid-level to use it for heavier than usual daily needs.

If you want to find a vehicle in the mid-level category, of course, the Honda Fit is not suitable. Vehicles that fall into this category are usually HR-V and Civic.

Conclusion

With rumors of existing information, certainly, the 2022 Honda Fit will no longer be available in the U.S. and Mexico region. Although Honda will announce the fourth generation of the Honda Jazz, another title for the Honda Fit, these two regions will not get a chance to try it out.

Several other countries that are marketed for Honda itself are certain to get models of this new design. Some areas that get this, for example, are countries in Europe and Japan.
