2022 Chevrolet Equinox 2-Row SUV Preview: Release Date, Price, Specs

For compact crossover enthusiasts, the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox is one of the most popular candidates. Chevy has expanded this car with an ample passenger room, athletic handling, and a sophisticated infotainment system.

However, some drawbacks, such as storage space and interior quality, might need to be considered. Equinox comes in an all-wheel-drive option, but if users want to enjoy proper propulsion, then the only option is only its four-cylinder engine.

Engine upgrades are available, but they might push the price up into the expensive area. Here we will discuss how sophisticated and desirable the 2022 Equinox is for compact crossover enthusiasts.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox Redesign & Changes

The new Equinox provides a more spacious passenger area. It also shows agile behavior on the road while coming with sophisticated infotainment features.

However, Equinox’s four-cylinder machine is not too strong. Compared to rivals, this car is a spendy purchase.

While big wheels look so sporty, those also reduce the quality while riding. This one is not the most remarkable compact crossover on the market, but if you love the brand so much, then you can go for it.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox gets a refreshed look on its front highlight. The changes show a bolder headlight look, while other updates include front and rear bumpers and a new grille.

The Equinox is also available in an RS model in which the sporty features include blacked-out interior trim and 19-inch wheels. The internal part is unique and sexy, featuring black upholstery with red stitching and a unique shift knob.

Checking out the Premier model – the top-tier of the car – you may be blown away by its black glossy trim on the console and French stitching. Those two create distinctive yet spiffier details on the cabin.

The first time you see the cabin, it gives a broad impression – made of durable materials and styled nicely. Passengers on both front and rear seats will find the comfiest room in this car, even for a taller person.

The best part is that the luxuries are offered in the basic model. However, the storage hold is considered average.

One of the best things about this car might be its infotainment. The standard features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connections, and audio streaming. Wi-Fi is also another forte of Equinox, after all.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox Release Date & Price

This model was initially planned for the 2021 launch, but the pandemic made it delayed.

So far, there are five models available, which are estimated, ranging from $25,000 to $34,000. 2022 Chevrolet Equinox RS models are the most expensive model among all. However, we highly recommend sticking with the LT mode – the mid-level model.

The LT model comes with a hi-intensity headlight, adjustable driver’s seat, chrome exterior trim, SiriusXM satellite radio, and so on. For a more powerful machine, you can upgrade it to a 2.0-liter turbo type. In case you prefer the all-wheel-drive system, you can put in an extra $1,600.

For more exciting safety features, you can opt for the Confidence and Convenience Package. The package comes with a remote start, read cross-traffic alert, a power liftgate, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, climate control, and a monitor for the blind spot.

Engine Specs & Performance

The 2022 Equinox comes with a turbo four-cylinder engine even though it’s relatively weak compared to rivals with similar specs. For those who demand something more substantial, upgrading the machine to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine might be a better option.

The forte of Equinox is on its handle. The handling is agile and responsive while keeping the driver enjoying the riding.

However, the ride could be a bit harsh, especially if you opt for the larger wheels. This car can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

The base engine can earn up to 31 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg on the city road. While you switch the machine to a bigger one, it can only reach 29 mpg on the street and 22 mpg in the city.

More than anything, this car is not the best compact crossover on the market; there are many choices in this segment, such as Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, Mazda CX-5, VW Tiguan, and Subaru Forester. But, the last generation of Equinox is nominated as The Most Dependable Compact SUV in 3 years. Equinox received the lowest rate of problems among SUVs in the J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Vehicles Dependability Studies. Because of that nomination, I can say this car is one of the most reliable crossovers out there.
