2020 BMW X1: What We Know So Far about BMW’s Upcoming Crossover | BMW’s X1 lineup has been on the market for about a decade now. So far, it has been able to prove its worth on the market.

The competition on the small luxury crossover segment is fierce. Since the X1 lineup has survived so far, we can safely say that it is a lineup of good small luxury crossovers. Soon, we will see the next iteration of the lineup: the 2020 BMW X1.

Do you want to know how the upcoming X1 will look like? What kind of engine will it have? When will it be released and how much will it cost? Worry not. We will address these questions. Let’s start with the design first.

2020 BMW X1 Redesign

A major redesign is likely to happen either in 2022 or 2023. That means that the 2020 X1 will not have a major redesign. Instead, the best we can expect for the 2020 X1 is a refresh. So far, how the exterior of the upcoming 2020 X1 is mostly unknown. That said, we can use its “siblings”, the X3 and X5, as references.

Using the “siblings” as a reference, we can expect the 2020 X1 to have rounder and smaller headlights, a bit larger grille, and taillights that resemble the X3’s taillights. The changes are there, but they are not major.

As for the interior, there should be styling tweaks here and there. There won’t be a major redesign for the interior as it will be saved for the 2022 or 2023 model.

Engine Specs & Changes

The upcoming 2020 BMW X1 is likely to be powered by the same engine as the current model. It will come with a 2.0L, four-cylinder engine capable of generating up to 228 horsepower with up to 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be mated with an eight-speed auto transmission gearbox.

Since the engine is likely to be mostly the same as the current model, we can expect the front-wheel-drive system to be the standard while the all-wheel-drive system will be optional.

2020 BMW X1 Release Date and Price

BMW has yet to announce when it will release the upcoming 2020 X1. That being said, we can use the previous release dates to predict the release date of the 2020 X1. The previous models are released somewhere in late-fall, which means we can expect the 2020 X1 to hit the market somewhere in 2019 fall.

Just like the release date, the price is currently unknown. Since the 2020 BMW X1 is unlikely to get a major redesign, we can expect it to have more or less the same price range as the current model. We can expect it to have a price range between $36,000 and $38,000.

Verdict

That’s all we know so far about the 2020 X1. The upcoming X1 is unlikely to get a major redesign, which means it will be more or less the same as the current model. That said, we can expect some new features and tweaks here and there. At the very least, the new X1 should have the same capability and reliability as its predecessors.
